Conrad George

Conrad has extensive experience in climate change finance, international negotiations, policy, and programs, built up over more than fifteen years of work for his national government and various international organizations.

Conrad was previously Director of International Climate Negotiations in the Department of Climate Change, Australia. In this role, he led Australia’s position in UNFCCC negotiations on the land sector and MRV issues directly and through the team of negotiators he managed. Most recently, Conrad guided the work of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the Green Climate Fund (GCF) from FAO’s headquarters in Rome. In addition, Conrad has extensive experience developing climate change policies, including the Australian Government’s renewable energy target, carbon offset program, and emissions trading. Conrad has also managed various climate change projects across Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.

Conrad leads work at UNEP-CCC on the new Climate Technology Progress Report series. He is also managing a Global Environment Facility (GEF) project to build capacity in GHG inventories and track Nationally Determined Contributions in Eswatini.
