With a background in physics and engineering, and professional experience in the academy and the private and public sectors Jorge has a focus on GHG accounting, sustainability and environmental impact assessment methodologies with particular reference to the energy sector. As a Programme Associate at UNEP-CCC Impact Assessment and Adaptation Analysis section, he works mainly on the further development of the Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which promotes the cooperation between Parties in the implementation of their NDCs and on the application of sustainable development and transformational change methodologies within the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT).
Before joining UNEP-CCC Jorge carried out field research on energy poverty and energy access through renewable energy systems in southeast Mexico, worked for the GIZ sustainable energy programme in Mexico and Central America with focus on energy efficiency in the industry and has spent the last two years working on the environmental impacts of the bioeconomy sector and the optimization of Life Cycle Assessment methods at the European Commission´s Joint Research Center in Ispra.
He holds a Licenciatura in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master in Physics Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin.
