An upgraded version of the Greenhouse Gas Abatement Cost Model (GACMO) is now available, enabling informed decision-making on climate change.
GACMO 2.0 provides countries with a clear understanding of the implications of their climate mitigation actions, to enact meaningful change and contribute to global emissions reduction.
Last week an introductory webinar delved into how GACMO’s rapid, yet precise scenario analysis can be used for preparing and updating NDCs and to prepare national climate plans and long-term strategies as well as international transparency reports such as the BTR outlined in the Paris Agreement.

You can also download the presentation from the webinar, or watch our tutorials for the GACMO tool – a general introduction and a tutorial focused on the Excel interface.
GACMO is a greenhouse gas emissions projections tool for navigating the complexities of emissions reductions and charting future emissions pathways. It has been updated and refined by the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre over two decades.
The new version of the GACMO tool follows the same methodological approach as the previous GACMO versions but has a user-friendly step-by-step improved interface, and comes with detailed guidance and two video tutorials, ensuring that users, regardless of their expertise, can harness the tool’s power.
GACMO 2.01 has been developed with the support of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT).
