Danida Fellowship Course on ‘Green Growth and Low Carbon Development’ held in Copenhagen

The course explored green energy and low carbon development business opportunities in developing countries within a climate change and development context. Aimed at public and private business managers and entrepreneurs, the course was attended by 16 participants from Indonesia, Pakistan, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Egypt and Bolivia. Fellows developed their own Green Energy and Low Carbon Development action plans informed by the course modules in areas such as waste to energy projects, public-private-partnerships (PPP) for renewable energy development, Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) development in the industrial sector, solar power, energy efficiency etc. The course was conducted by facilitators from UNEP Risø Centre (URC), DTU Executive School of Business and University of Delaware (USA) and included modules on the challenges of climate change and transformation to renewable energy systems, low carbon development, financing mechanisms, business opportunities, clean enterprise development and presentation of action plans.

The course was organized by the UNEP Risø Centre in association with DTU Executive School of Business funded by the Danida Fellowship Centre. Involving both classroom sessions and study tours, the course provided participants with the opportunity to engage and learn from each other’s experiences across the six countries as well as networking with potential public and private partners in Denmark.
