June 24, 2014

Tuesday, 24 June – On the day of the European launch of the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa(SEFA) in the UN City, Copenhagen, Denmark, H.E. Mogens Jensen, Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation endorsed the ‘WE HAVE THE POWER Efficient, Renewable, Affordable’ photo exhibition.

H.E. Danish Minister for Trade and Development Cooperation, Mogens Jensen, visiting the photo exhibition with H.E. American Ambassador to Denmark, Rufus Gifford, at the UN City in Copenhagen.

The photos take direction from the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s initiative; Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) a global initiative, launched in September 2011, to mobilize action from all sectors of society in support of three interlinked objectives to be achieved by 2030:

• Ensure universal access to modern energy services
• Double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency and
• Double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix

Achieving the three objectives together will maximize development benefits and help stabilize climate change over the long run.

The initiative seeks to build a global multi- stakeholder partnership between governments, the private sector, and civil society to achieve the objectives. The goals, actions, projects and programs of SE4ALL are supported by the World Bank, Regional Hubs and Thematic Hubs.

The Danish government has supported the SE4ALL initiative since its inception and partnered in 2012 with UNEP to establish an Energy Efficiency Hub (EE Hub) now called the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency.
