The session will discuss capacity-building needs and gaps from the countries’ view to increase the effectiveness of adaptation measures and addressing loss and damage.
The session will have two short presentations, one by AF-TERG and one by UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, followed by a panel discussion with project implementers and national representatives and a Q&A session.
The workshop will enhance understanding of differences and linkages between adaptation and loss and damage concepts and how to assess them in a more transparent and effective manner.
The objectives are to:
- raise awareness and identify the capacity needs and gaps for M&E of adaptation and loss and damage.
- learn from the past project and thematic evaluations by AF to understand the effectiveness and sustainability of adaptation projects over time.
- share experience from adaptation and loss and damage project implementations and their relation to capacity building.
There will be 4-5 panelists, consisting of national representatives (national implementing partners) as well as experts from UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre and AF-TERG, which have contributed in this area by development methodologies and technical assistance for evaluation of the effectiveness of adaptation and loss and damage projects namely the M&E systems.
