E-Training Programme on Energy Efficiency in Buildings in Zambia and Mauritius

A three-day virtual training programme exploring energy efficiency in buildings, for stakeholders in Zambia and Mauritius

3 June, 2025 09:00 - 5 June, 2025 11:00

Improving energy efficiency in buildings is a critical step toward reducing energy consumption, lowering carbon emissions, and enhancing energy security, particularly in rapidly urbanizing regions like Africa. As buildings are among the largest energy consumers, integrating energy-efficient strategies not only reduces environmental impact but also contributes to long-term cost savings, improved occupant comfort, and sustainable development.

This three-day virtual training programme explores key aspects of energy efficiency in buildings, tailored specifically for stakeholders in Zambia and Mauritius.

  • Day 1 will introduce the fundamental concepts and benefits of energy efficiency in the built environment.
  • Day 2 will focus on policy and regulatory frameworks that support energy-efficient practices.
  • Day 3:
    • Session 1: practical solutions and implementation strategies, supported by real-world case studies.
    • Session 2: Implementation examples of green building tool EGDE and building resilience tool BRI in Zambia and Mauritius
    • Session 3: Implementation examples of green buildings in Zambia – architectural design for the Levy Mwanawasa Hospital Expansion Project in Lusaka

The training is designed for academics, policymakers, architects, and other built environment professionals. It aims to provide actionable insights and foster cross-country dialogue. In-country experts from Zambia and Mauritius will share regional perspectives, highlighting both challenges and opportunities in advancing energy efficiency across Africa. This interactive program blends technical knowledge with practical application to empower participants to drive change in their respective fields.
