Communications and Policy Writing Specialist

UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre (UNEP-CCC)is looking for a Communications and Policy Writing Specialist to translate the Integrated Assessment for Article 6 (IAA6) project’s technical outputs and early lessons from its pilot implementation into clear, accessible and engaging communication products for policymakers, technical experts and wider audiences.

TheIAA6 project supports countries in strategically engaging with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to increase NDC ambition and advance long-term pathways towards 1.5°C-compatible net-zero targets. The project is implemented by UUNEP-CCC, in collaboration with partners and country partners in Peru, Tanzania and Sri Lanka.

Working closely with the IAA6 project team and the UNEP-CCC Communications Team, the consultant will simplify and adapt the existing IAA6 documentation, develop policy briefs and case studies, and prepare content for factsheets and infographics. The consultant will also work with country focal points to validate content and address confidentiality and country approval requirements where needed.

Location: Copenhagen/Remote
Duration: Part-time, 3.5 months, from 15 September – 31 December 2026, with the possibility of a no-cost extension until 30 April 2027

Expected deliverables

  • Simplified IAA6 documentation: Plain-language content, executive summaries and key messages for the three core IAA6 documents, plus accessible user guidance for the associated Excel tools.
  • Policy briefs: 2–3 concise policy briefs highlighting key elements of the IAA6 Approach and its benefits for integrated Article 6 implementation.
  • Country case studies: Public-facing case studies documenting the application, challenges and successes of the IAA6 Approach in Peru, Tanzania and Sri Lanka.
  • Data-driven decision brief: A brief or case study on the application of the SiSePuede tool in a low-resource context and its relevance for Article 6 decision-making.
  • Visual content packages: Ready-to-design copy and content briefs for factsheets and infographics, prepared in collaboration with the IAA6 Graphic Designer.

All deliverables will be developed in close coordination with the IAA6 project and communications teams and validated with country focal points where required.
