Meet us at Culture Night 2016 in UN City

Meet UNEP DTU Partnership and former President of the United Nations General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft at the Culture Night in UN City.

October 14, 2016

UNEP DTU Partnership is participating in this year’s Culture Night event in UN City. The Culture Night takes place in Copenhagen every year, where a variety of different public and private institutions will open their doors and invite the public inside from 6PM-10PM.

This year, UNEP DTU Partnership will join the nine other agencies in UN City and guide guests on a trip to the six regions of the world: Sub-Saharan Africa, the MIddle-East and North Africa, North-America, South America, Asia/Oceania and Europe. Based on the regions’ challenges and achievements relating to the SDGs, you will have to guess at which region you arrived. Who knows, you might be surprised!

When arriving to each region, you will learn in which areas the region is a frontrunner, and where it is lacking behind. Representatives from UNEP DTU Partnership along with the other agencies will give you insights into what they are doing in each of these regions as well as globally and you can hear which achievements we can learn from and what challenges we need to address in order for the world to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Besides the SDG-trip “Take a look at the world through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals”, which will take place throughout the night, guests are invited to also participate in some of the other events going on during Culture Night in UN City:

  • Mogens Lykketoft reflects on his tenure as President of the UN General Assembly in an interview with Divya Das, TV2, in UN City
  • Guided tour of UN City
  • Visit the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan
  • Performance of UNison Choir

Important notice to guests: All visitors to UN City must go through a mandatory security check, consisting of a baggage scan/examination and a personal scan (much like at the airport). You therefore have to bring a photo-ID in order to enter our premises. Objects classified as weapons, apearing as weapons or that could be used as weapons are not permitted inside the UN-City perimeter.
