Alexandre K. Magnan is a senior researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations. Alexandre’s research on climate adaptation focuses on understanding the drivers of societal vulnerability, the risk of maladaptation, and adaptation pathways, especially on coastal areas in small islands. He develops expert judgment methods to assess climate risks, adaptation options’ effectiveness, and adaptation efforts across scales. He served as an author for various recent IPCC reports (Special Report on Oceans and Cryosphere in 2019, Sixth Assessment Report in 2022) and for the lest editions of the UNEP Adaptation Gap Reports. He is a member of the World Adaptation Science Programme’s Scientific Committee.
