Dr. Anders McCarthy is a geoscientist and independent environmental consultant with over a decade of experience in turning scientific expertise into real-world impact. Following a successful scientific career (PhD acquired in 2016) in Earth Sciences, Dr. McCarthy transitioned to implementing international sustainability and industrial decarbonization initiatives with organizations such as UNDP, GIZ, MAF, and UNEP, with a focus on GHG mitigation and a just energy transition. Thanks to his background in Geology and Chemistry, his focus in recent years has been on decarbonising the cement and concrete value chain with the help of blended finance mechanisms and carbon finance.
