As Chief Climate Advisor and as part of the UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre management, Anne provides climate science-policy advice and supports climate strategy development and implementation in UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre and UNEP.
Anne has worked with UNEP throughout her career and has 25+ years of experience in international science-policy advice, technical assistance and research on climate change mitigation and adaptation in the context of sustainable development. Since 2012, Anne has led the annual UNEP flagship report on climate change mitigation – the Emissions Gap Report – guiding and coordinating the work of 70+ scientists from 35+ institutions across 25+ countries, in addition to being the chief scientific editor of the report. She was part of the team that started the UNEP Adaptation Gap Report and led the production of this report for 4 years.
Anne has previously held management positions at UNEP DTU Partnership, where she was Head of Strategy for Climate Planning and Policy (2019-2022) and interim Head of Strategy for Climate Transparency (2020-2022). , prior to which she was Head of the Climate Resilient Development Programme at the Centre (2008-2019). From 2022 to 2024, Anne worked at CONCITO as International Senior Advisor.
Anne serves on several advisory boards and committees, including the steering committee of the Global Climate Action Partnership, the advisory board of the Danish National Centre for Climate Research (NCKF), the Finance and Policy Committee of the World Adaptation Science Programme, and the advisory board for the Master of Science in Global Health & Master of Disaster Risk Management at University of Copenhagen. She is also on the steering committee of the UNEP Adaptation Gap Report.
Anne holds a PhD degree in economics from Roskilde University and a MSc degree in economics from Copenhagen University, specializing in economics of development and climate change.
