Denis joined UNEP-CCC as Senior Advisor Carbon Markets. Prior to joining UNEP-CCC, he was leading the Climate Policy Program at adelphi in Berlin, Germany. At adelphi he implemented projects for public and private sector clients such as the German Government, the EU-Commission, GIZ, foundations in Germany and the US as well as the World Bank. He led the technical support for GIZ´s Global Carbon Markets project, spearheaded the market research of the voluntary carbon market in Germany for the Federal Environmental Agency (UBA), and most recently supported the NDC update process in several low- and medium-income countries. His topics ranged from Article 6 of the PA, the Voluntary Carbon Market, GHG-Accounting as well as NDC updates.
Before joining adelphi, Denis was a Project Manager at atmosfair gGmbH, where he was responsible for CDM and Gold Standard projects in Honduras, Kenya, Tanzania, Thailand, and India. He focused on grid-connected renewable energy projects, bioenergy on household level and served as technical reviewer for monitoring reports for a wide range of project types.
Denis has a Diploma (equiv. to Master) in Environmental Engineering from Technical University Berlin.
