Geronimo Gussmann is a Nature-based Solutions Specialist in the Impact Assessment and Adaptation Analysis section. His work focuses on advancing NbS in some of the most vulnerable regions to climate change. Geronimo is a Political Economist by training. During his Ph.D. (Humboldt Universität zu Berlin), he studied the governance of coastal adaptation in the Maldives and led the co-development of coastal climate services in the context of an EU funded research project. As a postdoctoral researcher at the Global Climate Forum, Geronimo coordinated a transdisciplinary research project that developed nature-based adaptation strategies for the German Baltic Sea coast as well as continuing his work in the Maldives and other small island regions in the context of a HORIZON2020 research project. Geronimo then served as a Scientific Policy Advisor for the German Environment Agency and contributed to the updated German Climate Change Adaptation Strategy.
