Julie joined UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre in July 2020. Julie is a development geographer specialized in climate governance with a focus on adaptation politics. Her work focuses on strengthening institutional capacity and creating political structures to mainstream climate change in decision-making at national and local level. A growing interest can be found in climate financing, with a particular interest in investments (both public and private) at the local level in the Global South to strengthen institutional capacity and build sustainable and resilient livelihoods. Her most recent project sought to understand institutional dynamics in relation to the Devolved Climate Financing Mechanism implemented in Kenya. Besides Kenya, she has carried out fieldwork in different countries in Asia and Africa from which she has obtained strong qualitative skills.

At UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre Julie is engaged in NDC implementation and climate transparency support to countries involved in the NDC Action Programme and the Global Support Programme.

Prior to joining UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre, Julie spent 4 years at the Danish Institute for International Studies, where she assisted research projects in the unit for Natural Resources and Development.
