Mohamed Walid is a professional with over three years of experience specializing in climate finance, diplomacy, and digital technologies. He holds a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management from the University of Liverpool and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tunis Business School. During his master’s program, he conducted research entitled “The Role of Technology Adoption in Enabling Corporate Sustainable Transition: Africa as a Case Study.”
Throughout his career, he has been exploring new methodologies and tools, particularly in integrating technology solutions for the climate industry. His contributions as an innovation intern at the UNDP Regional Bureau for the Arab States and UNDP Tunisia, and as the Tunisian lead Climate Finance and Loss and Damage negotiator at COP26 through COP28, have significantly enhanced the UNDP service lines and strengthened the position of the African and Arab Groups in international climate dialogues. His involvement in the UNFCCC processes since 2021 has allowed him to gain experience in multilateral environmental negotiations, climate resilience, government relations, and project management. In his role as the Training Manager for the Youth Negotiators Academy, he has also contributed to the assistance and technical support of over 200 negotiators, accompanying them to COP conferences to ensure they are well-prepared to represent their countries effectively.
As a member of UNESCO’s Youth Climate Action Network Steering Committee and the Arab Youth Council for Climate Change, he has contributed to projects focusing on climate education, youth engagement, and intersectoral collaboration. In these voluntary roles, he spearheaded efforts to scale youth-driven climate action through impactful grassroots projects and fostered cross-collaboration with 15 youth-led networks at COP28 and COY18.
