Perumal Arumugam is the Manager of Markets and Non-Markets and Stakeholders Interaction subdivision in the mitigation division, providing strategic and policy advice on carbon markets, overseeing review of reports on cooperation of countries in Article 6, regulatory development for the Paris Agreement crediting mechanism, stakeholder interaction and capacity building on Article 6. He also coordinates the intergovernmental process on the implementation of Article 6. Perumal holds a degree in chemical engineering and a postgraduate degree in energy management.
Intergovernmental Negotiations and Stakeholder Interaction in the Mitigation Division of the UNFCCC Secretariat. He leads and supports the intergovernmental negotiations on international cooperative and market-related mechanisms under the Kyoto Protocol and Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and provides senior technical advice on issues such as quantifying mitigation benefits across sectors. He also manages capacity-building initiatives related to Article 6. Arumugam holds a degree in chemical engineering and a postgraduate degree in energy management.
