The Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency provides expertise in district energy solutions to cities, as a means of unlocking decentralised energy. We support cities to connect district energy with efficient buildings, waste heat resources and renewables to achieve greater sustainability. Our team supports cities in their heating and cool planning, local capacity building and in conducting pre-assessments and pre-feasibility studies. We are able to provide independent advice to cities in screening the most sustainable solutions for space and water heating and cooling. The final objective is to reach the investible district energy projects level and attracting finance.
The Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency develops this work in support to the District Energy in Cities Initiative, the Sustainable Energy for All District Energy Accelerator, where UN Environment has been leading and is active in establishing city interest in district energy systems.
