A new marketplace for energy efficiency

Mission Efficiency presents a marketplace to increase investments, and a new narrative for energy efficiency

November 21, 2022

A new concept has taken shape to bring together investors and energy efficiency projects. To create the synergies we urgently need to increase the rate of energy efficiency improvements.

It aims to bring together project developers and financing stakeholders in order to achieve better success rates implementing energy efficiency projects.

Mission Efficiency brings together energy efficiency stakeholders to elevate energy efficiency in the development agenda, support global progress and increase energy efficiency investment across sectors and regions.

Energy efficiency is the “first fuel” that every country possesses and the fastest and most cost-effective way to build a cleaner and more resilient energy future. Yet, the pace of annual global energy efficiency improvement and investment remain below what is needed to achieve SDG7.3 and net-zero emissions by 2050.

Missions Efficiency aims to change that.

A new narrative on energy efficiency

The marketplace is a result of the Energy Efficiency Financing Charette hosted by UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre in June this year.
Outcomes of the charette included the creation of four taskforces, now working together in support of market readiness for energy efficiency investment.

Besides the presentation of the new marketplace, the launch event also highlighted a new narrative on energy efficiency, showing a different angle of energy efficiency based on the end-user life experience.
The new narrative -developed by Mission Efficiency- aims at triggering new and more ambitious commitments by elevating energy efficiency in personal, organizational and global agendas.

By using a clear narrative that supports progress, convenes partners, matches solution offers and advocates for energy efficiency, it will be easier to reap the multiple benefits of increased energy efficiency ranging from access to energy to better air quality over energy savings to increased productivity.
