Determining implementation modalities for the Paris Agreement – the so-called rulebook for the Paris Agreement – was one of COP24’s main goals, this note outlines the nature of the engagements made during COP24 with regard to loss and damage.
UNEP DTU Partnership, in collaboration with Climate Analytics and the International Centre for Climate Change and Development, has prepared a summary of the main COP24 agreements affecting climate change-induced loss and damage. They concern the treatment of loss and damage vis-à-vis the Paris Agreement’s transparency framework, how loss and damage may feature in the Global Stocktake, and likely developments around the “Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage associated with Climate Change Impacts”.
